Mother Teresa

Choice of Words

One can describe Mother Teresa as someone who is careful with her choice of words.

One time she was visited by a priest who asked her a rather innocent and harmless question:

"Mother Teresa, when you visit China, is there a particular group you're hoping to target?"

The word target may conjure up international business dealings.  The overtones may treat people as if they are simply numbers or statistics, thereby lessening the humanity in them.

Mother Teresa responded simply: "My great desire is to meet anybody who has nobody."

Her careful use of words convey her love for people.  For Mother Teresa, people are not simply numbers or statistics, because with them, she sees the face of Jesus.
