Generosity and Stewardship

Welcome to all to the Holy Eucharist.  In a special way, it is a blessing to have school children here praying at the Holy Mass.

Dear God, we gather today to praise your goodness and love.  Today, we have our children with us and their teachers and parents.  Keep close to them and keep them safe.  Give them strength so that their studies may bear good fruit for our Church, our community, and for our nation and our world.  Enlighten their minds, so that they may thirst for knowledge and wisdom.  Also, increase in them the gift of faith, so that they may remain close to you, and that they may know you love them, and that Jesus loves them.  Increase in our teachers the gifts of creativity and most of all patience, as they pass on the faith and knowledge.

Father, as we prepare to partake in your heavenly banquet today, we do so with humility, and seek your pardon and forgiveness.

Dear God,

Today, we hear about the people who have helped your son and the Apostles.  They provided for them using their own resources.  Their contribution helps to accomplish the mission of making the world holy and consecrating the world to you.

May we strive to be good stewards of our resources so to help the mission by being generous to the Church, and to respond with generosity when we are able.

Only because we value the mission of having the Sacraments being celebrated.  The Sacraments allow us to witness the mystery of your love.  For without it, we will gain the whole world but yet do not have our soul.

Dear God, we also want to thank you for those who have the gift of generosity.  That they give for the sole purpose to glorify you, and that they don't seek anything in return.  For them, there are no strings attached.  They only seek to praise you.  They give not for selfish reasons.  They only delight to see the gospel to be preached and the glory of your son being revealed in the Sacraments.  Fill them with your blessings.  Also, Increase in us the gift of generosity.  We know that we can never outdo your generosity because you have been gracious to us, not only the gift of life, but the life that is to come, eternal life with you. Dear God, when we are tight with our generosity, may we look to the cross of your son and be reminded of the outpouring of your favor and love.  Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
