Message for Widows and Widowers
Dearly beloved,
The Lord said: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted."
In the beginning of the Gospel according to St. Matthew, Christ gives a perspective of happiness and blessedness. They are also known as the Beatitudes.
Interestingly, the Greek word used for comfort in the Bible is Parakleo. It shares the same root as the Paraclete, another name for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the comforter and consoled for all who mourn. It's because the Holy Spirit helps us to acknowledge that Christ is Lord. The Holy Spirit guides me on the course to heaven by helping me to believe in Christ and the story of the Resurrection. When I know that after this life, there is another and better life to come, I find it quite comforting. Only because the Holy Spirit helps to me value the Gospel of resurrection and restoration.
I heard it said in this manner. It's not about what I loss, but it's about what God has gained. I'm sad and dwell in grief if I focus on what I loss rather than what God has gained.
When I lose someone dear to me, I do have a special place in the Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart. Because I know I shall be comforted by the Paraclete, the Comforter.
