WHAT
DOES GOD LOOK LIKE?
If we were to ask
ourselves: what does the face of God look like? How would we answer?
After Mass, a woman
brought her daughter to the priest because she had a question:
“Father, can you tell me what does God look like?” He responded:
“Well, I'm a priest, so God looks kind of like me.” But he could
tell the look on her face that she wasn't satisfied with the answer,
and neither was her mother. (Try Again, Father). He said: “I'm
sorry, I was trying to be funny, but it didn't work. Let me try
again.” He then said: “If you do something nice for someone,
then just look in the mirror. When you do something kind, you look
like God.”
STORY OF TWO BROTHERS
A story was told
about two brothers who inherited their father's wheat farm. They
divided their land equally and each built a home on his half of the
property. One brother had a wife and 5 children. The other brother
was single. The brothers love each very much.
Every year, after
the wheat was harvested, the older brother who had the large family
worried about his younger brother, who had no one to take care of
him. So the older brother, would get up in the middle of the night,
fill a wagon with wheat and secretly take it to his brother's barn.
But no matter how much he gave the wheat to his brother, his own
supply of wheat never diminished.
Then one night on
his way across the fields, he crossed paths with his brother. He
also noticed that his brother was transporting a wagon full of wheat.
His brother who was single, was concerned about him, who had a large
family, and may not have enough income to provide for his wife and
children.
Moved beyond words,
the brothers ran and embraced one another. They had seen the face of
God in each other.
What
does God look like? After you have done something nice for someone,
or when you are kind to someone, look in the mirror. You are created
in the image and likeness of God. You look just like God.
