Simon the Pharisee

Today, in Luke 7, is a beautiful message of divine mercy.

The Lord Jesus told a parable about two people who were in debt.  One debt was much larger than the other.  If both debts had been forgiven by the creditor,
Who would love him more.

Simon the Pharisee replied: “The one I suppose, whose larger debt was forgiven."

The woman, whom everyone knows is in the business of selling love.  She doesn't say a single word to Christ.  Her actions showed contrition.

The conversation was only between Christ and Simon the Pharisee.

The woman, she kissed Jesus feet, she washed his feet with her tears,
And she anointed Jesus’ feet with oil.  She didn't say one word.

There are two kinds of humility.

Unrestricted Humility which can also be described as unrestricted charity.  One must always admit that one can be at fault
Even in simple thoughts, and one must not be so proud as to refuse to say:
“I made a mistake.”  Because such pride would be more harmful than the previous fault.  Everybody makes mistakes, with the exception of God.  Who can say: “I am never wrong.

But there is a greater and more difficult humility to practice.  It is the one who that knows how to (like the woman in the Gospel) keep silent about God’s wonderful things in us, especially when it is not necessary to proclaim them for His glory so that we might not discourage our neighbor who has not received such special gifts from God.
It is only then we can learn to operate in God’s time and be patient with others, for in God’s time, everything shall be revealed.
