Pope Benedict XVI once spoke about Judas in this manner. For Judas, power is real. Success is real. Money is real. But for Judas, love or charity is not real.
He betrays Christ with a kiss. "You betray the Son of Man with a kiss. Judas uses a kiss, a beautiful sign of love, for the wrong reason, to hand Christ over for 30 pieces of silver.
Like Judas, do we make other things more important than love for God, or communion with God in Christ Jesus?
Holy Week began last Sunday with Palm Sunday. The Holy Father, Pope Francis, on Palm Sunday, raised good questions to reflect upon.
Are we asleep in the faith? This is in reference to the Apostles who were asleep in the Garden of Gethsamane. Christ said to them: "can you not keep watch with me for just one hour?"
The Holy Father, Pope Francis also asked the question: When things become difficult, do we wash our hands like Pontius Pilate.
When it becomes difficult, do we pass on the responsibility to others? Are we indifferent?
Have a blessed Holy Week!
