The Lord commissions the Apostles

First of all, to help the Apostles with their mission to proclaim the Kingdom, they were sent out two by two.  So that not only to support one another, or pray for each other, on the missionary journey, but to keep one another accountable.  One of the feedbacks from a survey as to why some are not keeping faithful to the Eucharistic ritual is this: "I stopped going to church one day and no one called me."  This would mean that they do not have a spiritual means of support.  There is no spiritual guide, support and accountability in place.  Not to cast blame on anyone but it would be easy for the person to not keep up with their Eucharistic ritual if there is no accountability.

Secondly, the Apostles were told by Christ to not carry certain items for the missionary journey.  Things that may hinder their missionary work.  Things that may make them less authentic and keep them being fully dedicated to the missionary work of proclaiming the Kingdom of God.

Thirdly, and also important is not to have self-pity.  If a town doesn't welcome you or listen to you, go to another town.  In other words, don't get down on yourself if witnessing the faith falls on deaf ears.  Or when Catholic doctrine and moral teachings are not accepted.  Allow Almighty God to purify and cleanse the soul from self-pity.  And so that the soul may develop endurance, perseverance, fortitude.

May the Holy Spirit enkindle the fire of faith within our souls and renew our spirit, increase zeal and sustain hope.  Praise be the Holy Name.
