Wishing you a Blessed and Joyful Christmas Season.
The Holy Father Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI once shared a Christmas perspective about the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem.
He said that a doorway to the place of Christ's birth was originally about 16 feet tall. It was tall enough so that dignitaries could enter on horseback. Now, the wall has been mostly covered up leaving an entry that is 4-5 feet tall.
In order to enter, a person had to get off their horse, stoop down in a humble manner to behold the holy ground.
In order for me to behold the mystery of the Nativity, I have to get off my 'high horse' of intellectual pride, and in a humble posture behold the God that is concealed in the humble stature of an infant.
"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a son is given..."
