My Dear Brethren,
What if one day you had to have a surgical operation. Of course we would never tell the surgeon: I only have one hour because I have to be somewhere else. Desperately, we would say to the Doctor: "take all the time you need. Do you whatever it takes to make me better." We can't dictate or make demands because we trust in the Doctor's expertise and healing power. It could be a quick fix or a long extensive process, but we entrust our life into their hands.
Christ is the divine physician and healer. This would mean that I wouldn't say to Christ: "I only have one hour for you, to take care of me. My time is limited. That would be as crazy as stopping the surgeon halfway through the operation.
If Christ is to bring healing to the soul, we would give him as much time as necessary. We wouldn't dictate or make demands, but to give him all the time that he needs to make our souls better, and make us whole.
When you give the gift of Time for Christ at the Parish, think of it in terms of 'surgery for the soul.' Give Christ the time that is necessary. Entrusting our life to Christ is not limiting our time but allowing the Divine Physician to 'work his magic'. Christ knows what is best for the soul, and who are we to keep Christ from purifying it and present it to God the Father. God loves you!
