Sacrament of Penance - CCC 1425
The Catechism uses an expression from the Apostle John to help one to an awareness of personal sin. "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us." 1John 1:8.
In the Our Father prayer, Jesus taught the disciples to seek forgiveness from God for personal sins. "Forgive us our trespasses." But the seeking for God's mercy is connected to showing mercy to others. "As we forgive those who trespass against us."
When praying the Our Father prayer, noticed the connection between God's forgiveness of personal sins and showing mercy and pardon to others.
