God's word helps us to see that the
Gospel of Jesus Christ, is a Gospel of mercy. Christ forgave the
woman, while Simon had judgment in his heart. Although everyone knew
her background, the kind of person that the woman is, but Christ did
not look at her with condemnation. Instead, he looked at her with a
heart of mercy. The word “Church” is not just a noun, describing
baptized members. It is also a verb, focusing on the works of mercy.
There are 14 works of mercy, corporeal and spiritual works of mercy.
Corporeal Works of Mercy
- To feed the hungry.
- To give water to the thirsty.
- To clothe the naked.
- To shelter the homeless.
- To visit the sick.
- To visit the imprisoned, or ransom the captive.

The word “Church” is not just a
noun, describing all those who are baptized. The word “Church”
is also a verb, describing the things we do, which is participating
in the works of mercy.
