The Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation
CCC 1420
St Paul helps us to persevere with the expression "earthen vessel". "But we hold the treasure in earthen vessel, that the surpassing power may be of God and not from us." 2 Cor 4:7
St Paul also uses another hope-filled expression: "earthly tent". "For we know that if our earthly dwelling, a tent, should be destroyed, we have a building from God, a dwelling not made with hands, eternal in heaven." 2 Cor 5:1
According to St Paul, the "earthly tent" is subjected to suffering, illness and death.
Although we receive new life from Baptism, sin can weaken that new life. The new life in God, can be lost because of sin.
expresses that St Paul expresses that despite Baptism, we are still in our earthly tent.
